The Pint & Cork has opened across from Gucci and next to Rolex in The Shops at Wailea on Maui. The new gastropub serves craft beers, cocktails and upscale bar food.
The Pint & Cork plans to add seven more employees to its current team of 18 once the bar’s outdoor patio seating opens.
The new restaurant moved into the space previously occupied by Japanese restaurant and sushi bar Kai Wailea.
Owners spent about $600,000 on renovations for their 27,000-square-foot restaurant. The upgrades include the installation of a 40-foot soapstone bar and the addition of exposed brick walls.
This is the first Pint & Cork location, but owners Mark Baldwin, Mike Thomas,Scott Pacer and Chris Lowney have their sights set on opening more bars on other islands in Hawaii or on the Mainland.
The menu items include ahi sandwiches at $19.50, pork belly banh me sandwiches at $16.50 and mac and cheese offered with truffle oil at $7.50.
Drinks include beer and cocktails ranging from $5 to $13. “All of our cocktails are done speakeasy style — no blender,” Pacer told Pacific Business News on Wednesday. “Our mai tais are sprayed with absinthe and our smoky mirrors drink, our version of a margarita, is made with a smoky mezcal.”
The Pint & Cork’s Executive Chef Maka Kwon formerly held the same position at Sarento’s at the Top of the Ilikai in Honolulu.
